This hospital bed electronics system was comprised of a pneumatic control circuit board and a pressure sensing I/O circuit board that worked together to control an air-filled patient support surface (mattress). The system adjusts the air pressure in the support surface based on the characteristics of each patient. DornerWorks designed, developed, and tested the embedded software for the pneumatic control and sensing hardware, as well as the intercommunication between the two circuit boards. We also provided circuit board layout services for the hardware design from prototype through production hardware for both boards, in addition to some hardware design consulting.
DornerWorks worked closely with Stryker from the prototyping phase through to the production phase. Due to our involvement during early development, we were able to provide insightful feedback into the product design for the client. That feedback helped the client shape the product design to best fit their needs. DornerWorks software services included providing automated unit test and integration test scripts that fed directly into the client’s quality assurance processes and enabled the client to test their product quickly and efficiently.
