DornerWorks and Wind River Partner to Enable TSN for Embedded Systems

Posted on May 21, 2025 by Andy Mazur

The DornerWorks TSN FPGA IP, which is available as TSN Endpoint or Switch on AMD-based COTS hardware. As shown in the image above, DornerWorks TSN FPGA IP (100% US developed) is available as TSN Endpoint or Switch on AMD-based COTS hardware. This FPGA IP enables customers operating on resource-constrained platforms, heterogeneous compute environments, or with demanding integration timelines benefiting from the joint Wind River–DornerWorks solution.  Using DornerWorks TSN, system developers are able to develop next-generation TSN hardware with minimal impact to the user application space This combined capability delivers a portable, IEEE standards-based, certifiable TSN implementation, openly integrated with Helix Virtualization Platform (HVP) and VxWorks, without compromising MOSA principles. Utilizing a tighter coupling of TSN-aware firmware to system hypervisors provides customers an expedited path to system integration. If a program requires TSN endpoint or switch flexibility, guaranteed timing-critical latency, and/or unique network interface integration, with minimal disruption to an existing software application stack, the combined DornerWorks-Wind River solution could be the perfect fit.

DornerWorks brings decades of expertise in embedded systems design (FPGA, embedded software, and custom hardware) including TSN firmware, FPGA IP, endpoint stack design, and embedded systems integration. When matched with Wind River’s partitioned Type-1 hypervisor, robust mixed-criticality support, and safety-critical certifications, this solution enables deterministic, secure, and open standards-compliant mission systems that are both modular and reusable. This DornerWorks + Wind River collaboration ensures that customers are empowered with choice, flexibility, and a low-risk path to certifiable TSN-based interoperability.
